I use Google Chrome as my main browser for surfing the Internet. However, every time I click a link from other Windows applications, the system default open Internet Explorer. I remembered that Google Chrome ask me to set it as default browser when finishing installing but I dismiss that. How can I set Google Chrome as default browser in Windows 8?
As we know, Google Chrome is a new and young web browser in compare with Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Opera. Although young but Google Chrome still prevails over Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox through speed advantages and a simple interface. And now we can see that Google Chrome is leading the browser market worldwide.
In Windows operating system, the system will default Internet Explorer settings as the default browser. Each one when installing a new browser, a message will be asked if you want to set up a new browser to default browser or not. However, most users are only focused on the installation and enjoy new browser skip this step.
Catching this behavior of the user, all browsers have the option in the Settings to allow users to reset the default browser. And it is easy for Google Chrome.
To do this, follow the instructions below:
Step 1. Click on the Chrome menu button on the browser toolbar. Then in the drop-down menu, click to select Settings
Step 2. In the Settings tab, scroll down your Settings page to see the line “Default Browser“. You can see a button named “Make Google Chrome my default browser“. Click on it.
Step 3. Windows 8 will presents a pop-up dialog. Click your mouse on Google Chrome.
Step 4. Then return back to Google Chrome Settings, you can see that now the system default browser is Google Chrome.
