Today my colleague receives a SMS from Google about his friends group’s party. This was so amazing. I also want to do that. How can I do set Google calendar SMS notification to send to my mobile phone?
Clearly that Google provides so many useful features to users. One of these is Calendar that you can share with others, send event’s SMS notification to your and others’ mobile phone. I’m now using it a lot. Lovely Google.
To use this function, you and your friends must have a Google email account. The registration is so easy. Just go to this link (http://mail.google.com/mail/signup) to register Google email accounts.
After that, log-in into Google Mail and then go to your Google Calendar page.
In the calendar page, find your calendar and then click on dropdown symbol besides the calendar. Choose Notification.
Before you set SMS notification, you should setup and verify your mobile phone number. You can do that by click a link near the bottom of the page.
Enter your country and your mobile phone number. Please check that if your carrier is supported by Google. After that, click Send Verification Code and wait Google send you a verification SMS.
After receive verification code via SMS, enter it in Verification Code text box and then click Finish Setup.
You can see that your mobile phone number is registered with Google.
Then go back to Notification page, click Add a reminder, set ‘remind me via’ as SMS and define the time SMS will be sent. You can also choose which kind of calendar invitations will be sent via SMS.
In order to share calendar to your friends so that they can see your calendar and also get SMS notification, choose page Share this Calendar . Input your friend’s email and then click Add Person.
That’s all. You and your friends can get use of this feature right after you do these instructions.
NOTE: Until now, nothing is clear about this Google service is free of charge or not. But depend on my checking, it does not take any cent from my mobile account. You try it, you got it .
