For me, until now, Google Email (aka Gmail) still is the best free email solution. It has not only the simple interface with 15GB free storage but also the powerful search engine like Google Search. Powerful search function will help you easily find out what email you need. And if you have a bunch of email accounts with different providers and would like to check all of your email in one place, Gmail is your best bet.
Google email service allows you to check mail from other accounts using POP3 protocol. Then all the emails from these accounts will be placed consolidated in your Gmail mailbox. You can do things like add label to these emails, archive them (not displaying them in Gmail inbox) which we will explore later.
Now, stay focus on what we will do. On your Gmail interface, look at the top right corner and you can see a gear icon. That’s what you have to click on. Click on that gear icon then choose “Settings” in the drop-down list.
Then Google will take you into Settings interface of Gmail. Click on the link “Accounts”, then find the “Check mail from other accounts (using POP3)” section. You can see a link named “Add a POP 3 mail account you own”. Click on it right now.
After click on “Add a POP3 mail account you own”, a pop-up window will raise up for you to start add email account for checking from Gmail. In this pop-up window, type in the email address/email account that you want to check for then click on “Next Step”.
On the next window, we will have to define some options for this email account. Firstly, you have to define the connection settings (Username/Password/POP3 server, Port) for this mail account. These settings are usually provided at your hand. Just type them in. I also recommend to check the option “Leave a copy of retrieved message on the server”. It provide you other backup places for your emails.
Other things that we mentioned before is ability to “Label incoming messages” and “Archive incoming messages (Skip the inbox)”. Click to check the checkbox before each option to set it. These options help you to differentiate emails from different accounts. After setting what you need, click on “Add Account” button.
It’s all done. After clicking on “Add Account” with proper information inputted, you will see Gmail check mail from other accounts immediately.
Now this tip is in your hand. Add as many email accounts as you want to your Gmail fetcher and enjoy your consolidation mailbox.
